Compute Flavors

The NETWAYS Cloud offers various so‑called compute flavors for hosted servers—i.e., server classes with different advantages.

Below, these server classes and their variants are explained.

General Purpose

Servers of the General Purpose class have balanced specifications for applications that do not have special requirements.

They provide a cost‑effective way to run services in the NETWAYS Cloud without paying for resources that might not be needed.

In the NETWAYS Cloud, you can identify the server class by the prefix s1.
The specifications of the General Purpose flavor are as follows:

Class vCPUs Memory Local Storage
s1.small 2 2 GB 25 GB
s1.medium 4 4 GB 50 GB
s1.large 6 8 GB 75 GB
s1.xlarge 8 16 GB 100 GB
s1.xxlarge 12 32 GB 150 GB
s1.xxxlarge 16 64 GB 200 GB

Storage Optimized

Servers of the Storage Optimized class have more local storage and a higher network bandwidth—otherwise the specifications behave like those of the General Purpose class.

They are a good choice for data‑intensive applications that rely on local storage, e.g., caches or databases.

In the NETWAYS Cloud, you can identify the server class by the prefix s2.
The specifications of the Storage Optimized flavor are as follows:

Class vCPUs Memory Local Storage Network Bandwidth
s2.small 2 2 GB 50 GB 2 GBit/s
s2.medium 4 4 GB 100 GB 2 GBit/s
s2.large 6 8 GB 150 GB 2 GBit/s
s2.xlarge 8 16 GB 200 GB 2 GBit/s
s2.xxlarge 12 32 GB 300 GB 2 GBit/s
s2.xxxlarge 16 64 GB 500 GB 2 GBit/s

Performance Optimized

Servers of the Performance Optimized class provide state‑of‑the‑art vCPUs in larger quantities, more memory, and more local storage.

They should be the first choice for resource‑hungry applications, e.g., in the field of high‑performance computing. In general, they give you more compute power for the same price when compared with the General Purpose flavor.

In the NETWAYS Cloud, you can identify the server class by the prefix p1.
The specifications of the Performance Optimized flavor are as follows:

Class vCPUs Memory Local Storage
p1.small 2 4 GB 25 GB
p1.medium 4 8 GB 50 GB
p1.large 8 16 GB 100 GB
p1.xlarge 16 32 GB 200 GB
p1.xxlarge 32 64 GB 400 GB
p1.xxxlarge 64 128 GB 800 GB

Dedicated vCPU

Servers of the Dedicated vCPU class offer exclusive use of vCPUs and back this performance boost with more memory and more local storage.

Unlike all other flavors, the vCPUs of your servers in this flavor are not shared with other servers on the same hypervisor.

They are therefore perfect for applications that need a guarantee of resources and are very sensitive to fluctuations in available resources.

In the NETWAYS Cloud, you can identify the server class by the prefix d1.
The specifications of the Dedicated vCPU flavor are as follows:

Class vCPUs Memory Local Storage
d1.small 2 8 GB 125 GB
d1.medium 4 16 GB 250 GB
d1.large 8 32 GB 500 GB
d1.xlarge 16 64 GB 1000 GB
d1.xxlarge 32 128 GB 2000 GB

No xxxlarge configuration

Please note that the Dedicated vCPU flavor, unlike the other flavors of the NETWAYS Cloud, does not offer an xxxlarge configuration.

GPU Accelerated

Servers of the GPU Accelerated class provide you with local GPUs that can accelerate your compute‑intensive workloads.

They are perfect for AI‑based applications.

In the NETWAYS Cloud, you can identify the server class by the prefix g1 or g2, depending on the graphics card used: NVIDIA A10 or NVIDIA A40, respectively.
The specifications of the GPU Accelerated flavor are as follows:

Class vCPUs Memory Local Storage GPU
g1.large 4 16 GB 200 GB NVIDIA A10
g1.xlarge 8 32 GB 350 GB NVIDIA A10
g1.xxlarge 16 64 GB 500 GB NVIDIA A10
g2.large 4 16 GB 200 GB NVIDIA A40
g2.xlarge 8 32 GB 350 GB NVIDIA A40
g2.xxlarge 16 64 GB 500 GB NVIDIA A40

No xxxlarge configuration

Please note that the GPU Accelerated flavor, unlike the other flavors of the NETWAYS Cloud, does not offer an xxxlarge configuration.
