Creating a User

You can create up to 10 users within your Object Storage project in MyNWS.

Switch to the Users tab and click Create User. A dialog with configuration options will open.

Configuration Options

Display Name

You must provide a name for your user here.
The name does not have to be unique.
Allowed characters are alphanumeric, spaces, and the special characters _, -, and ..

Examples of valid display names

test-user
Max Mustermann
staging.example.com

Note

The display name is only for easier identification. Each user also automatically receives a unique ID.

Key Type

When creating a new user, a key is generated automatically.
The Key Type determines whether the key is compatible with the S3 or Swift protocol.
By default, an S3 key is created.

Tip

If you are unsure, choose S3 initially. You can delete the key at any time and generate a new one.

Quota

The Quota defines the maximum amount of storage space the user may occupy – across all buckets.

Default: 50 GB
Maximum: 1000 GB

After Key Creation

After clicking Create, a notice appears that the Secret Key is shown only once.
After clicking Ok, the key pair is displayed: for S3 consisting of Access Key and Secret Key.
If Swift is selected, a Swift User is shown instead.

At this point the user has been successfully created.
Secure the keys and then continue navigating the menu, e.g., to Users.
